From this day forward, you shall not walk alone…

“No one knows exactly how it happens, no one knows exactly why it’s true. But some people are just meant to find each other, and someday, somewhere, somehow they always do” – Unknown

On the 18th August, I got to witness and be part of a truly magical day… The day my brother and his partner (now wife), who also happens to be my best friend, got married!

So not only did I get to see one of my big brothers marry the woman of his dreams, but I also got to see my best friend marry the man of her dreams! What a lucky and unique experience!

I could joke and say, eh… what do you see in him (being my brother and all that!)… But my brother truly is an amazing person.

For starters Robert is stupidly (annoyingly, not jealous at all…) ridiculously talented in so so so many way! You can give him any task, and I can 100% garantee he will achieve it one way or another. Who wouldn’t want a man around like that eh!

He has a great sense of humour and is loyal to his family… But then like any other man, which you may all choose to deny, he also has his PMT week!!! These do exist!!!

Tash is also just as equally an incredible person! She is nothing but loyal and honest, and cherishes every moment with her friends and family, even when they are truly driving her bonkers! And to my surprise, as equally talented as my brother… So it appears after seeing the incredible work and pieces of art she created for her wedding! She kept that one quiet! Maybe accidentally dying your hair bluey/grey after all wasn’t an accident? Maybe another secret DIY project?

Their wedding day was beyond beautiful and perfect – it was unique and suited them both perfectly!

Unfortunately, because I am a chicken – I didn’t get round to doing my speech… I am actually an extremely shy person and there are just certain situation I cannot contend with… Although it is something I am getting better with over-time.

Below is a shortened version of my speech which I wrote and very much wish I did have the guts to say it on their magical day: –

When I first met Tash, I knew straight away that she would become a great part of our family. I’d never have guessed though that we would have become best friends and like sisters. She truly is something special! She must be to be able to put up with a Hackett for the rest of her life lol. (Yes, I actually wrote lol down on paper!)

We were actually house buddies at one point throughout our years of friendship, and her and Roberts relationship. We have shared so many happy memories together (some embarrassing but we’ll leave those memories to another time). The word I want to focus on here is together, the memories were always shared with both Robert and Tash together – whilst they might not see it, they are inseparable – even when there is distance between them.

When they are together they never fail to make each other laugh with their sarcasm and whit, and the best part is you get to laugh with them and share their joy.

They have bought two beautiful children into the world which has filled many hearts with joy and love you never thought could possibly exist.

So whilst you fill each other’s hearts with love and joy, you do the same for those around you too. Together you are something amazing. It brings me great joy to witness and celebrate the marriage of both my best friend and brother!

So to end my speech, I stole a little meme (if that’s what you call them) off google, because as you can tell, I am not very good at speeches and my face is probably as red as tomato right about now! (If I had done the speech, I can imagine my face probably would have been hot enough to cook an egg!)

Love isn’t perfect. It isn’t a fairy-tale or a storybook and it doesn’t always come easy.

Love is overcoming obstacles, facing challenges, fighting to be together, holding on and never letting go.

It is a short word, easy to spell, difficult to define, and impossible to live without.

Love is work, but most of all, love is realising that every hour, every minute, every second of it was worth it because you did it together.

So to my dearest brother and best friend, congratulations on becoming Husband and Wife, and a super huge thank you for letting me be part of your magical day!
